Serum or Cream?

Serum or Cream?

As in all things, there are horses for courses.

Let us explore the difference:

But firstly –

We all notice the changes as we age. they are usually subtle and we don’t notice until we try something we have not done for a while and find it takes a little more out of us than we remember.

When it comes to our skin we notice lines we didn’t have, our skin doesn’t bounce back as it did when we get a bit tired, golly we never used to get tired! A morning coffee doesn’t cut it anymore.

We decide to do yoga and find we are sore in places we never were previously.

We need to be mindful we are aging and start to take a bit more care of ourselves. We should start to eat healthier foods, take vitamins, exercise a little and pay attention to our skin and its needs.

This article explains the differences between serum or cream and the effectiveness in caring for your skin.

What Is a Serum Best for?

Face-lifting Serum is considered to be one of the most effective types of anti-aging products. This is due to the specific nature and concentration of the active ingredients. Serums are generally formulated to address a specific skin issue.  As they are not diluted with moisturizer and the active ingredients are much more concentrated, the effects are more positive. When ingredients like Vitamin C, Retinol and Collagen are added they penetrate the skin, target the concerns – wrinkles – and provide long term benefits with prolonged use.

What is an Anti-Aging Cream?

“Cream” is a general term for a multitude of products—from moisturizers to night and day creams. The majority of creams offer a mix of hydration, SPF and natural nutrients. They are designed to be part of a longer-term regimen with regular usage providing benefits over time.

They may be specifically targeted to areas such as eyes where the skin is thinner and softer and benefits most from good skin nutrition. Anti-aging cream is generally based on being a moisturizer with key ingredients that assist in collagen production and as a result, stimulate and plump up the dermis and epidermis. this helps the skin around the eyes  retain its suppleness and softness helping eliminate unsightly bags etc. Cream is generally more gentle due to the presence of moisturizers. As a result, most creams are applied morning and night. Our Skin Regenerating cream contains a high concentration of peptides and natural oils to nourish your skin while you sleep.

Remember to always avoid subjecting your skin to harsh sunlight. If you are not currently using a good quality skin moisturizing cream it is a good time to start.

Cream for under the Eyes

What is Under Eye Cream?

As the skin around your eyes is more delicate it is the first to show signs of aging.

With this in mind we have formulated our Visage Triple Action Eye cream using:

Jojoba Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid, Arnica Montana Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein, and Eriobotrya Japonica Extract to provide maximum benefit to the skin around the eyes.

We also refrain from using fragrances as the skin may be sensitive in the eye area.

So so we choose a Serum or Cream? It really depends on your needs.
